LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - Court records show that runaway defendant Wade Lohse - captured in Pennsylvania and returned to Lafayette - is scheduled to stand trial in the death of Cacie Barras McGrew next month.
The Advertiser reports jury selection is expected to begin July 22 for Lohse, who faces multiple charges, including vehicular homicide.
But Lohse's attorney has indicated he is considering filing a motion to move the trial outside Lafayette Parish, saying pretrial publicity of the case could hurt his client's chances for a fair trial.
Police say Lohse was drunk when his car crashed June 10, 2012, into another vehicle driven by McGrew.
Lohse was in court awaiting the start of his trial in March when he told his attorney he needed to pay the parking meter. He never returned.
