NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A wreck early Monday morning knocked out power to more than 300 people and shut down a road in Madison.

The crash occurred in the 1201 Cheyenne Blvd near the Cumberland River in Madison around 4 a.m.

Police said a woman fell asleep behind the wheel, hit a power line pole and went down an embankment. The vehicle eventually hit a fence near the River Retreat apartments.

Power was knocked out at the apartment complex and surrounding area.

Authorities said the woman was conscious and walking after the wreck.

Power was restored by 6:30 a.m. but the road will be closed until noon.
