Good morning!

Agnes DeRouen in the KPLC 7 Newsroom with a look at what we're working on for 7News@Noon.

There's been an explosion and fire at a chemical plant in the town of Geismar. State Police report there are injuries, but no word yet on the extent. The plant, located about 20 miles southeast of Baton Rouge, makes highly flammable gases that are basic building blocks in the petrochemical industry. You can read more about what's happening HERE.

Also today, a would be burglar gets more than he bargained for after allegedly trying to break into the home of an elderly woman. Find out how this gun-toting granny fought back.

Plus, a very special delivery for a mama cat. One of her kittens has a rare disorder causing it to have two faces!

In weather, Ben tells me look out for more heat and humidity with rain very unlikely today. We should reach the mid 90's and it will feel hotter than 100 degrees for awhile this afternoon. Are there any chances for rain as we close out the week? Check out Ben's live, local forecast at noon for the answer.

Remember, you can always watch us online at kplctv.com and on air. We hope you join us, and have a great day!
