Ready to "Walk with the Mayor?"

Throughout the month of June, each city/town in Calcasieu Parish will start a MOVEment in their community by planning a one-mile "Walk with the Mayor."

Your help is needed to "Walk with the Mayor" and encourage residents in their neighborhoods to participate.

The goal is to launch sustained walking clubs and encourage loyal walkers in your area.

• All six Calcasieu Parish mayors are actively leading and hosting local walks in their cities during the month of June.

• 37% obesity rate, inviting residents to come out and join them as they walk at the school track, in city parks, etc. Also encouraging residents to start up their own neighborhood walking clubs.

• Each city will sign up participants at their walk and / or residents can log on healthierswla.com to pledge to walk more in the month of June. Winner of the City Challenge will be determined by # of signups and pledges to start walking regularly/divided by city population.

• All six mayors are featured on the "Take the Dare" TV spot currently running on KPLC. The goal of the campaign is to "Start making changes-together!" All of our mayors are excited about leading the "Walk With Your Mayor" walks this year and annually thereafter.@
