18-year-old shot after leaving market

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

An 18-year-old man is in critical condition at Vanderbilt Medical Center after being shot early Tuesday morning.

The shooting occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Tenth Avenue North.

While leaving a market, police said a tall skinny man with short hair started following the 18-year-old and his friend.

The victim and his friend began running home when the attacker began shooting. The 18-year-old was shot once in the buttocks.

Police said the injuries are critical but not life-threatening. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.

No arrests have been made.

    The Lake Charles Police SWAT Team will be conducting training in the area of the 2100 block of Country Club Road from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday Oct. 20, said Deputy Chief Mark Kraus.  There will be a large police presence in the area because of the SWAT training, said Kraus.
