Calcasieu District Attorney receives 'Patriot' award

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

The Patriot of the Year award was presented to Calcasieu Parish District Attorney John DeRosier at Monday's City of Lake Charles Mayor's Armed Forces Commission meeting at Lake Charles City Hall. 

City officials said the award is presented annually by the Mayor's Armed Forces Commission to three individuals and one company in recognition of patriotic service to the community. 

Officials said the remaining three award presentations will be made at the Lake Charles Civic Center on Saturday, June 29, at the 7th Annual Southwest Louisiana Patriot's Ball.

    A heat advisory has been issued for our area through the day today. This advisory begins at 11 am and lasts until 8 pm tonight. This advisory is due to forecast highs in the mid-90s combined with dewpoints in the 70s. These two-combined causes the heat index to soar between 108 and 112. Through the day today expect hot and mostly sunny conditions. Feels-like temperatures expected to reach between 108-112 this afternoon.

    An upset at the CITGO Lake Charles Refinery caused several unit shutdowns and flaring, according to CITGO Lake Charles Government and Public Affairs Manager, Dana Keel.
