Weather delays progress on Sulphur’s Parish Road project

SULPHUR, LA (KPLC) -

There has been a delay in the completion of a major road project in Sulphur.

Parish Road, a major artery to the Sulphur Parks and Recreation Complex and Frasch Park, is set to be finished by late August.

The $3.2 million project has been delayed by bad weather and longer than expected underground utility work.

The busy thoroughfare is being repaved from Ruth to Eva Streets.

Turning lanes are being added at the intersections of Ruth and Picard.

About $2.2 million of the project is coming from federal funding.

The Saharan dust has diminished a lot more since yesterday and the particle numbers are down. We are still in a moderate zone, so you should still use caution if you have any allergies or breathing issues. Throughout the day, the clouds will be clearing, and the rain should stay away from us. There will still be a lot of humidity in place and hot temperatures.  By the afternoon, there should be lots of sunshine. That will increase the temperatures more.
