Woman claimed to have child to get TennCare, says state

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A Hermitage woman faces fraud charges after state officials say she claimed to have a child in her home to make herself eligible for TennCare benefits.

Toni Renee Petty, 42, was charged with two counts of TennCare fraud and one county of theft of services in Wilson County.

Petty could face up to two years in prison if convicted.

More than 1,800 people have been charged with TennCare fraud since 2005.

Tennesseans can get cash rewards for TennCare fraud tips that lead to convictions.
Suspected TennCare fraud can be reported toll-free by calling 1-800-433-3982.
