Vernon man accused of having $8K worth of synthetic marijuana at arrest

LEESVILLE, LA (KPLC) -

A Leesville man is accused of being in possession of a large amount of synthetic marijuana, according to a news release from the Vernon Parish Sheriff Sam Craft.

Craft said 21-year-old Akbar Pirani was arrested May 30 by the Vernon Parish Narcotics Task Force.

He was charged with possession of schedule I narcotics with the intent to distribute, distribution of schedule I narcotics and possession of schedule IV narcotics.

Craft said at the time of his arrest, Pirani had 412, 10-gram bags of synthetic cannabinoids, a schedule I narcotic with a street value of approximately $8,000.

Pirani also had over $7,500 on his person, Craft said.

Pirani was booked into the Vernon Parish Jail on $22,500 bond.
