Body found in Acadia Parish identified

ACADIA PARISH, LA (KPLC) - The body found in Acadia Parish on May 30 has been identified, according to a news release from the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office.

The body is that of 31-year-old Thomas Mendoza, from Honduras, according to Sheriff Wayne Melancon.

Melancon said Mendoza died as a result of multiple stab wounds to his upper body. An arrest is expected as the investigation continues, Melancon said.

The body, badly decomposed, was found by a juvenile on a four-wheeler on May 30 at an oil well site located off Hawks Road near Robert's Cove.

The victim's body was sent to the Calcasieu Parish Coroner's Office for an autopsy.
