Creole Nature Trail nominated for VirtualTourist's '8th Wonder'

CALCASIEU PARISH, LA (KPLC) -

The Creole Nature Trail All-American Road has been entered into VirtualTourist.com's quest to crown the "8th Wonder of the World."

Voting on the website recently opened. The website is a leading travel research website and community that is part of TripAdvisor media Group.

The Creole Nature Trail was the only byway selected on the strength of its natural intrinsic qualities and is one of only 31 designated All-American Roads in the United States.

This rugged terrain is unique to Louisiana, America and the world. The trail provides multiple opportunities to get up-close to wildlife in their natural habitat. It has earned the nickname of "Louisiana's Outback" because of its unique marsh, prairie and coastal eco-systems. The trail helps to provide shelter, food and nurseries for a variety of wildlife such as fish, shellfish, birds and waterfowl.

With numerous tourism boards, Chambers of Commerce and visitor bureaus sending in a nomination, the public is asked to vote for their favorite out of the more than 200 submissions.

Voters can visit www.virtualtourist.com to vote for the Creole Nature Trail and have until Sept. 30 to do so.

The wonder with the most votes will be crowned the winner. The winner will be featured in a national broadcast TV segment on a popular syndicated program as well as receive a massive media relations campaign push from VirtualTourist.
