Fatal House Fire - KPLC 7 News, Lake Charles, Louisiana

Fatal House Fire

Hello everyone. This is Cynthia Arceneaux from the KPLC newsroom. A sad tragedy this morning when a mother and her two young children died in a house fire. It happened at 2913 First Avenue in Lake Charles. They were living in a duplex... The people occupying the other side of the structure managed to escape.

An Oakdale man has been sentenced to life in prison for the death of his sister. Johnny McGraw was accused of beating and shooting his sister Brenda McGraw during an argument at their mother's house back in August of 2008. She died two weeks later.

A key part of the Moss Regional takeover is moving through the state legislature. A house committee today approved closing in-patient beds and the emergency room at Moss Regional as part of the takeover by Lake Charles Memorial and West Cal-Cam Hospitals. The legislation now goes to the full House. The takeover is set for June 24th. Join us today for Live At Five and 7news At Six.
