Ceremonies and patriotic displays marked Memorial Day on Monday across Southwest Louisiana.

Casket flags lined the drive through at the Orange Grove-Graceland Cemetery on Broad Street in Lake Charles, honoring the fallen men and women of the military.

In all, 880 flags were put up in the cemetery early Monday morning.

The flags were displayed through the evening hours.

A ceremony was also held at Lake Charles' Veterans Memorial Park. There was a special salute to Korean War veterans.

In Sulphur, members of the Maplewood Hollywood Lions Club held their annual Memorial Day event.

Wreaths were presented in honor of veterans from all world wars. The Sheriff's Office drill team also performed, and balloons were released representing each fallen veteran in the area.

In addition, a new American flag was raised at the Lions Club building.

Fees were also waived at the U.S.S. Orleck for visitors to explore the ship and learn more about military history in the ship's museum. View a slideshow of the day's scenes HERE.

In DeRidder, there were flag displays at Beauregard and Woodlawn cemeteries.

Flags also lined Washington Avenue in downtown DeRidder. To view a photo slideshow of Memorial Day 2013 in DeRidder, click HERE.
