EUNICE, LA (KPLC) -

A 21-year-old Eunice man was arrested early Friday and charged with attempted second-degree murder in connection with a Sunday evening disturbance at a convenience store in Branch where a man was shot.

According to Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon, investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Emerick J. St. Andre on Thursday afternoon.

Melancon said officers with the Eunice Police Department arrested St. Andre without incident.

St. Andre is charged with the attempted second-degree murder of a man who reportedly received injuries to his leg after being shot.

St. Andre is presently being held in the Acadia Parish Jail with bond set at $100,000 by District Judge Glenn Everett.

Melancon advised that as investigators continue to question witnesses and persons of interest, more arrests are expected.
