Rosepine teen accused in stabbing

LEESVILLE, LA (KPLC) -

A Rosepine teen is accused in a stabbing, according to a news release from the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office.

Authorities said 18-year-old Kennedy Prether is charged with aggravated second-degree battery in the case.

According to Vernon Parish Sheriff Sam Craft, deputies received a complaint of a domestic disturbance at around 9:30 p.m. Thursday.

When deputies arrived, Craft said they discovered the homeowner had sustained a stab wound to the left side of his chest.

After further investigation, Craft said authorities identified Prether in the stabbing.

The homeowner was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released.

Prether remains in the Vernon Parish Jail.

Bond has not been set.

    A drive-by shooting on a bicycle has been reported in Vinton, officials say. No one was hit by a bullet, nor was the house, said Vinton Police Chief Ricky Fox. The person who reported the shooting said they were outside the home when a person on a bicycle drove by and fired at the home, according to Fox.
