DeRidder man, accused in domestic incident, arrested after standoff

DERIDDER, LA (KPLC) -

A 47-year-old DeRidder man, accused in a domestic disturbance, was arrested Friday following a standoff with authorities at a DeRidder home.

According to the DeRidder Police Department, Alexander Dehoven is charged with aggravated battery, aggravated second-degree battery and illegal carrying of weapons.

Authorities said at 12:23 a.m. Friday, officers were dispatched to a disturbance on Plough Street.

Dehoven is accused of striking one person in the head with a lamp. He also allegedly discharged a firearm into the floor, which resulted in another person being struck with bullet fragments.

Authorities said there were no life-threatening injuries. Victims were treated and released.

Dehoven was arrested after barricading himself inside the home, authorities said.

The Beauregard Parish Sheriff's Office SWAT team assisted in the standoff. The team made entry into the home and Dehoven was arrested without further incident.

Authorities said additional charges are pending. The investigation continues.
