Fleeing from repossessors, driver runs over two women

JENNINGS, LA (KPLC) - Police say a 23-year-old Jennings woman is facing two counts of attempted manslaughter after she allegedly ran over two women who were attempting to repossess her vehicle.

Rakia Lewis is charged with two counts of attempted manslaughter. She is currently in the Jennings Jail.

Jennings Police say the two women, who work with a repossession company, were attempting to repossess the vehicle when they encountered the driver of the vehicle at a local car wash.

Authorities said when they approached the vehicle, one of the women was able to get inside the open driver's door; the other was at the rear bumper.

Authorities said they advised the driver they were there to repossess the vehicle. Authorities said an argument ensued and the women tried to get the keys, but the driver put the car in reverse and sped away.

Authorities said both women were struck. One reportedly received significant injuries yet both were treated and released.
