LACASSINE, LA (KPLC) -

Juniors at Lacassine High School had a Skype lecture with New York Times best-selling author, Hugh Howey, on Wednesday.

The class has been reading his series, Wool.

Teachers thought the online lecture would be a good learning tool.

"I did a little video recommending his book without him knowing about it," said Charla Arabie, Lacassine High School librarian. "He stumbled on it and he put it on his Facebook page."

The students had the opportunity to ask Howey questions about their readings.

"He and his wife are just wonderful people, said Arabie. "Hugh has Skyped with us three times for no charge and he has never asked us for anything."

To end the week, there will be a few small showers this afternoon. The rain chances are still at only 30%, so not everyone will see rain. It will be another hot day. Temperatures will reach the lower to mid 90s. Heat indices will be around the 103-106 degree range. It should be nice weather to end the week and start the weekend. Overnight, it will be generally clear with only a few passing clouds. I do not expect any rain. It should be a nice evening if you have any outdoor plans.
