CALCASIEU PARISH, LA (KPLC) -

Area seniors in Calcasieu Parish are being invited to join the "Senior Citizens Academy."

It gives area residents the chance to learn more about their community with important topics like the role of law enforcement in the parish and how you can help keep the streets safe.

Registration is open to any Calcasieu Parish resident 55 years or older.

Monthly sessions will be about three hours long and will include a continental breakfast and lunch.

Participants are required to attend one educational activity per month, starting in June.
