La Tech closes out the season against UTSA

Posted: Updated:

Louisiana Tech will wrap up its final three-game series of the 2013 season as the Bulldogs take on Western Athletic Conference foe UTSA beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday at J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park in Ruston.

The matchup between LA Tech (19-34, 6-18 WAC) and UTSA (28-23, 12-11 WAC) will be a preview of what's to come next season as the Roadrunners will make the switch to Conference USA along with the Bulldogs at the con¬clusion of this season.

"We want to finish strong," head coach Wade Simoneaux said. "These guys deserve some happy days in that dugout. UTSA is a future Conference USA opponent, so our guys don't want to give in any. For some of our seniors, this could be the last time they step foot out on that field, so we are going to let it all hang out and take it one pitch at a time. These guys have been through ups and downs and fought through it and never wavered when times were tough."

The series between the two teams will resume at 6 p.m. Friday with the season finale scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday. This weekend will mark the last action for the Bulldogs this season after being eliminated from contention for the 2013 WAC Baseball Tournament earlier in the week.
