LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office and the Louisiana State Police celebrated National Police Week with a special ceremony on Tuesday morning.

Tuesday's memorial service and roll call honored the officers' sacrifice in the name of public safety.

A special color guard and flag-raising marked the start of the ceremony.

It was part of a salute to fallen officers that was held outside the Sheriff's Office administration building on Broad Street in Lake Charles.

"National Police Week is a way for all law enforcement across the country to recognize those officers that came before us and the ones that are currently serving now … and the ultimate sacrifice men and women pay for their departments and the people that they serve," said Chris Guillory, LSP Troop Commander.
