Brandon Jackson's four-hit, complete game shutout held the Northwestern State baseball team down for Matt Richard to break a scoreless game in the fifth inning with a two-run double to give Nicholls State a 3-0 win to take the rubber match on Sunday in Southland Conference action.

With the loss the Demons (15-37, 4-20 SLC) were knocked out of contention for the Southland Conference Tournament.

Jackson (3-1) only had one perfect inning for Nicholls (25-27, 8-16 SLC), but allowed only three runners into scoring position.

Joey Parrack was replaced to open the bottom of the fifth for Andrew Adams (0-7) who issued a leadoff walk to Seth Stevens.  After Adams struck out Cody Dufrene to give Nicholls one out, Mike Barba singled to first base one batter before Richard delivered the big blow down the left field line.

Ashton Sivigliano started the game for the Demons and pitched two innings with one hit and a strikeout.  Parrack came on in the third inning and also allowed only one hit and a strikeout.

After Adams, Steven Spann pitched for two innings and allowed one hit, one walk, and struck out two.

Cameron Brewer entered the game in the eighth inning and allowed Nicholls to add an insurance run when Tyler Duplantis singled through the right side to score Keith Cormier.  Cormier was hit by a pitch.

Nick Purdy, Will Watson, Cort Brinson, and Matt Burns each contributed a hit, all singles, to the Demons effort.

The bottom half of the Nicholls lineup was five-of-14 with one run batted in and two runs scored.  Barba was the only Colonel with a multiple-hit game.

The Demons will play their final road game of the year when they travel to Louisiana Tech on Tuesday for a 6 o'clock first pitch. Northwestern State's final series of the year will open Thursday at 6:30 at home with Oral Roberts.
