Lake Charles man accused in Lafayette armed robbery

LAFAYETTE PARISH, LA (KPLC) -

A Lake Charles man is accused of an armed robbery in Lafayette.

According to a news release from the Lafayette Police Department, accused in the case is 25-year-old David B. Parker. He was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on a charge of armed robbery.

Authorities said at 8:20 a.m. Tuesday, police responded to the 2200 block of Ambassador Caffery Parkway regarding an armed robbery. 

Witnesses said the suspect entered the business wearing a mask and armed with a handgun, demanding money. 

"The suspect then fled the business by driving away in a black 4-door Saturn Vue. While traveling on Dulles, the suspect crashed his vehicle at the intersection of Dulles and Domingue Road. The suspect then ran north into a pasture toward Ole Colony Road. The suspect was later located near the intersection of Westgate and Ole Colony Road and taken into custody without incident," the release states.

Authorities said the employee received minor injuries and police reportedly recovered the weapon.

    This morning the Lake Charles housing authority opened its waiting list for the first time since 2014.
