LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

A Lake Charles woman is accused of striking a person with a metal pipe, according to a news release from the Lake Charles Police Department.

Authorities said at 9:52 p.m. Friday, officers were dispatched to 2nd Street in reference to a disturbance. Authorities said it was the second time they were called to the home.

Jessica Marie Siverand allegedly hit a person with a pipe at the home and then fled the scene.

"While officers were retrieving information the suspect, later identified as Siverand, drove by this address honking the horn as she passed," the release states.

Authorities said officers flagged down the vehicle and made contact with Siverand.

"As Siverand was exiting the vehicle, officers observed a metal pipe on the front passenger seat of her vehicle in plain view," the release continues.

Authorities said the victim was taken to a local hospital.

Siverand, 31, was booked on an aggravated battery charge. Bond in the case was set at $5,000.

By sunset this evening the temperatures will start to go down and rain will come to an end. Overnight we will be left with mostly cloudy skies and temperatures in the mid to upper 70s. Rain chances are down to 20% overnight. On Monday will have rain chances go back down to 30%. The same upper level high pressure will be migrating back south closer to our area and will limit, but not quite eliminate, our rain chances. Rain chances are best in the afternoon.
