CALCASIEU PARISH, LA (KPLC) -

A state appeals court has made a ruling in the case involving a former Lake Charles gynecologist.

The court ruled that prosecutors can use photos and other evidence taken from cameras and CDs found in possession of Dr. Peter LaFuria.

LaFuria is charged with 186 counts of video voyeurism and 78 counts of sexual battery as well as five counts of molestation allegedly involving former patients.

LaFuria is accused of taking photos of them without permission.

Defense attorney Glen Vamvoras will reportedly appeal to the state supreme court.

LaFuria remains free on a bond of $1.29 million.
