Police investigating shooting at ETX club that left one person in critical condition

Released by the Palestine Police Department:

On 05-05-2013 Palestine Police responded to a disturbance at Club Tangeria located in the 200 block of Saltworks Road. Police went to the location after the report of a man being shot at this location.

Police and EMS arrived on the scene and found the victim on the ground in front of the club. Initial information from witnesses indicated that the victim had been sitting in a car in front of the club at the time of the shooting. Witnesses also reported that a midsize car drove by and three to four shots rang out. The victim was hit in the arm and abdominal area. The victim was transported to a Tyler hospital by air. The victim was listed in critical but stable condition as of 9:00am Sunday.

The victim was from the Fort Worth area. The victim's name will not be released due to the nature of the crime and his family being notified.

Police have talked with several witnesses to the incident and will be following up on several leads concerning this matter. "There are other people that we will be looking to speak with over the next few days." says Sgt. James Muniz.

The investigation is still in the initial stages and there is more work that must be completed. There has been no arrest at this time. Detectives from the Palestine Police Department will be looking to talk with one person of interest as early as this afternoon.

    Nationally, according to the FBI, only 64% of homicide cases are solved but the Lake Charles Police Department has had only two cold cases since 2001.
