Local authorities help find abducted child

Good Afternoon,

Lee Peck in the KPLC 7 Newsroom with a look at what we are working on for 7 News at Six.

Local authorities help find an abducted child from Virginia. We'll have the details.

Plus, the Contraband Days Festival kicked off Friday but not without injury. There's word one of the operators of the cannon was injured during the blast.

Meanwhile the Contraband festivities are underway. This morning hundreds of cyclists took to the roadway for the annual Tour LaFitte. Also the "Spike & Splash" event packed North I-10 Beach with professional volleyball players and jet skiers.

We'll also take you out to two events benefiting a good cause: the Habitat for Humanity Women Build project and a local version of the Kentucky Derby.

It may be a little on the cool side for May but no one is complaining about the weather. Meteorologist Cedric Haynes has your forecast.

We'll see you tonight at six for these stories and more. Until then we are always on at kplctv.com.
