MANY, LA (KPLC) - Toledo Bend is in the top 10 of the country's bass lakes, according to the May issue of BASSMASTER magazine.
Toledo Bend is listed in 10th place out of the 100 lakes featured.
This is the second year that the publication has compiled the list.
According to the BASSMASTER website, the lakes were chosen after consulting with state agencies on catch rates, studies and stocking schedules.
The lakes were then reportedly ranked by "B.A.S.S. Nation presidents and conservation directors." A panel of fishing professionals and outdoors writers then narrowed the list, the magazine reports.
According to the Sabine River Authority of Louisiana, construction was completed on the Toledo Bend Reservoir, a man-made lake, in 1969.
At normal pool elevation, the lake has 186,000 surface acres.
