LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

A Lake Charles man is accused of home invasion and assault, according to a news release from the Lake Charles Police Department.

David White, 26, is charged with home invasion, aggravated assault, false imprisonment and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Authorities said at approximately 6:48 a.m. Tuesday, Lake Charles police officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of North Lyons Street in reference to a disturbance at a home.

Authorities said an officer met with a woman, the alleged victim, near the intersection of Opelousas and North Shattuck Streets.

Authorities said the alleged victim said White, her ex-boyfriend, broke into her residence and held her at gun point. She said the suspect was still in the residence.

Authorities said they traveled to the home and found White inside. Officers also reportedly found White's gun inside the home.

Bond in the case has not been set.

To start off our week, we will have another hot and sunny day. There will be a few clouds that build up this afternoon, but the rain chances are slim to none. Temperatures will once again be very hot. Highs will reach the mid 90s. Some area north of I-10 could reach the upper 90s. Heat indices will also be in the triple digits. A heat advisory will likely be issued. If you are planning on spending time outdoors, I recommend taking caution in the heat.
