Good afternoon. This is Cynthia Arceneaux from the KPLC newsroom. A convicted murderer from Calcasieu Parish had his case taken all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court. But it ended in defeat for Jonathan Boyer. The high court voted 5 to 4 to dismiss the appeal. Boyer's attorneys had argued that a 7 year delay between his arrest and his trial was a violation of his right to a speedy trial. But the Supreme Court ruled against him saying the court should have never taken the case. Boyer was sentenced to life without parole for the 2002 murder of Bradlee Marsh.
