Sports Person of the Week

This week's Sports Person of the Week is Baylee Corbello of Sam Houston High School. The LSU Signee pitched no hitters in the first two rounds of the playoffs to lead her Lady Broncos back to the Fast Pitch 56. In the two games, the senior threw 29 combined strikeouts and walked only four batters. Now, Sam Houston is set to go for their 2nd straight 5A Championship. Congratulations to Baylee Corbello, our Sports Person of the Week.

    A Lake Charles man who beat his girlfriend repeatedly with an aluminum bat was convicted of attempted second-degree murder Tuesday. The jury took less than an hour to unanimously convict Paul Walling in the February 2016 beating. Walling struck her in the head and her upper body repeatedly, authorities said at the time.
