Residential solid waste convenience centers resume collecting scrap metal

CALCASIEU PARISH, LA (KPLC) -

Calcasieu Parish residents are now permitted to bring their scrap metal to the Calcasieu Parish Solid Waste Convenience Centers.

Parish officials said collection of scrap metal was temporarily suspended last year to allow Public Works officials to install new machinery that monitors the collected materials for environmental standards.

Regular Convenience Center hours are 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Thursday through Monday, and closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
