BOMBING SUSPECT FOLO-PKG

--REPORTER PKG-AS FOLLOWS--

TWIN BLASTS LAST MONDAY SET OFF A WEEK OF FRENZY,

AND SET UP THIS MOMENT OF SILENCE.

ONE MINUTE OF QUIET ONE WEEK AFTER AUTHORITIES SAY TAMERLAN TSARNAEV AND HIS YOUNGER BROTHER DZHOKHAR BOMBED THE BOSTON MARATHON. THREE PEOPLE DIED THAT DAY-- AND ANOTHER, A POLICE OFFICER, DIED THURSDAY.

MOURNERS GATHERED TO REMEMBER ONE OF THEM--29-YEAR-OLD KRYSTLE CAMPBELL--MONDAY...WITH A SALUTE TO THE YOUNG WOMAN WHO LOVED TO WATCH THE RUNNERS CROSS THE MARATHON FINISH LINE.

50 BOMBING VICTIMS REMAIN IN THE HOSPITAL, WHERE DOCTORS SAY AMPUTEES ARE BEGINNING TO LEARN TO WALK AGAIN.

"It takes a lot of safety, a lot of practice and they have to learn new routines."

SURVIVING SUSPECT 19-YEAR-OLD DZHOKHAR TSARNAEV IS ALSO HOSPITALIZED. HE IS CHARGED IN FEDERAL COURT WITH USE OF A WEAPON OF MASS DESTRUCTION AND MALICIOUS DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY RESULTING IN DEATH.

QUESTIONS ARE PILING UP ABOUT HIS BROTHER'S ACTIVITIES--THE FBI INVESTIGATED TAMERLAN IN 2011 AT THE REQUEST OF RUSSIA, TAMERLAN THEN WENT ON A 6-MONTH VISIT TO RUSSIA IN 2012.

"Was there any procedure for the FBI to follow up on the activities of somebody over the internet after they've effectively been cleared?"

SENATOR DIANNE FEINSTEIN SAYS THE SENATE INTELLIGENCE COMMITTEE WILL EXAMINE THE HOW THE FBI HANDLED THE 2011 INVESTIGATION, AND IF ANYTHING THEN COULD HAVE HELPED PREVENT WHAT HAPPENED ONE WEEK AGO.

I'M EMILY SCHMIDT, REPORTING.
