SULPHUR, LA (KPLC) -

The City of Sulphur has closed a portion of Huntington Street for 48 hours after an 8-inch water main break left the street flooded.

It happened Sunday afternoon near the intersection of Huntington Street and Hwy. 90.

Crews with the Department of Public Works were able to repair the break without shutting off water to nearby residents.

Because of the water damage to the road, the city is asking residents to detour using Cypress and Logan Streets while crews re-strengthen the road when it dries.
