WESTLAKE, LA (KPLC) - There is an end in sight for Westlake residents who have had to detour around a bridge project on Miller Avenue.
Calcasieu Parish Police Juror Hal McMillin said the contractor has made significant progress.
McMillin said weather permitting, crews should wrap up work on the bridge in mid-May.
McMillin said he has reiterated to the contractor the importance of getting the bridge finished because of the inconvenience to Westlake residents having to detour.
"Traffic has become congested on Sampson Street during peak times. Residents have been patient. We thank them for that and the contractor has really worked with us to move the project along," McMillin said.
The bridge was long overdue to be replaced. It was more than 50 years old and the original pylons had started to deteriorate.
