LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

The Contraband Days Louisiana Pirate Festival has set sail in downtown Lake Charles. The festival runs through May 12.

The event will feature the Walking of the Plank by the Lake Charles Mayor, the 15th Annual Contraband Days Car Show, the Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge, the Louisiana Music Educators' Association's Choral State Competition, a redfish tournament, an armwrestling tournament, a pirogue building contest, a barbecue cook-off, a costume contest, carnival rides, a fireworks display, a boat parade and a pirate marketplace.

Performers at the festival will include the Kentucky Headhunters, Audio Adrenaline, Jo-El Sonnier, Ganey Arsement & the Lakeside Gamblers and Chris Ardoin.

Admission to the festival is $5 per day for adults and free for children ages 5 and under. Festival passes may be purchased HERE. There is also a $2 daily parking fee for festival attendees.

Outside of the barbecue cook-off, barbecue pits will not be allowed at the festival. Tents and ice chests will also be prohibited on the festival grounds. Because alcoholic beverages will be sold by vendors at the event, festival attendees will not be allowed to bring their own alcoholic beverages.
