CALCASIEU PARISH, LA (KPLC) -

A woman who pleaded guilty two weeks ago in her husband's 2011 death was sentenced Wednesday in 14th Judicial District Court.

Darlene Sias, 52, was sentenced to 40 years in prison in the death of Joseph Sias, 62, of Lake Charles.

Sias pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of manslaughter.

She was initially charged with second-degree murder.
