CPSO: Girl found, reunited with parents

SULPHUR, LA (KPLC) - The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office tells 7News, 17 year old Dovie Mellard has been found safe and reunited with her family.

She was found nearly 24 hours after last being seen near her home after a school function.  There is no word yet on where or how Mellard was found.

According to Mellard's stepmother, Kimberly, she was last seen around 11:20 p.m. Saturday. Mellard had gone to prom and returned home to change to attend the Senior Breakfast with her date.

"She was talking about how happy she was that she went and how much fun they had" said Mellard's stepmother.  "I told her they made memories that night and I told her to get ready for the breakfast".

Once there Mellard text her ex-boyfriend and he picked her up from the breakfast.

Mellard's mother said she last spoke to her at 12:38 a.m. once she realized she was not where she was supposed to be.

Kimberly says shortly before 1:00 a.m., she spoke with Mellard's ex-boyfriend who told her he dropped Mellard off at the rail.

The Calcasieu Parish Office of Homeland Security used its "ring down" system to call residents of the Sulphur area asking for their help in locating the missing teen.

It's unfortunately more common than you would think: pet owners dropping their animals off at the vet and never picking them up. Most offices cannot take in these animals, so they just end up at the shelter.

A few showers possible Monday for the eclipseA few showers possible Monday for the eclipse

Overnight, we will have clouds clear and will become mostly clear. Temperatures will slowly fall to the mid 70s. It will feel very warm due to the humidity. Heat indices will be in the 80s, throughout the night. Monday, the day of the eclipse, there is just a 30% chance of rain, so we will most likely have a few clouds during the time of the eclipse. There could be a few showers around the peak of the eclipse, but more likely, at least some clouds.
