HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Wednesday's weather brought on some of the same concern from April 27, 2011.  Since those storms hit our area, many people have rebuilt their homes but made them better to prepare for Mother Nature.

Julieanne Rodriguez's home was destroyed during those storms, so she made sure when she rebuilt it would be better.

"The anxiety was through the roof," she recalls of April 27, 2011.  "You always hear about tornadoes and tornado watches and warnings, but you just never really anticipate how bad it's going to be. I think it was a shock to most because when you hear tornado warning, people tend to brush it off; so when it hit, and it hit hard, I think it put everybody in a state of shock and I think you get a sense of respect for the weather."

Rodriguez hid in a closet in her Anderson Hills home nearly two years ago to ride out the storm.  Since then, she's built back and added one potentially lifesaving addition: a storm shelter.

The shelter was built in the garage and can hold up to eight people.

Rodriguez also put a safe box at the stairs in case she ever needs to wait out a storm there.

She said many of her neighbors who chose to rebuild also made sure to have a storm shelter in their homes.

By sunset this evening the temperatures will start to go down and rain will come to an end. Overnight we will be left with mostly cloudy skies and temperatures in the mid to upper 70s. Rain chances are down to 20% overnight. On Monday will have rain chances go back down to 30%. The same upper level high pressure will be migrating back south closer to our area and will limit, but not quite eliminate, our rain chances. Rain chances are best in the afternoon.
