A Lake Charles man is accused of rape.
According to a news release from the Lake Charles Police Department, authorities responded to a report of an alleged sexual assault March 19 at about 9 p.m. in the 1600 block of 3rd Street.
Authorities said when officers arrived on the scene, they were advised that a female victim was sexually assaulted by a 19-year-old black male.
The suspect was later identified by police as Desmond Lamont Lafleur, of Lake Charles, authorities said.
An arrest warrant was obtained and Lafleur was charged with with forcible rape.
Judge Wilford Carter set the bond at $30,000.
Detective Kevin Thomas is the lead investigator in the case.
