The Louisiana Office of State Parks has announced that the equestrian trails at Hodges Gardens State Park will be closed to the public for timber harvesting beginning Monday, April 8.

During the closure, the equestrian campground will remain available to overnight visitors.

The Longleaf Pine Stump Trail and the Wild Azalea Trail, both of which are hiking-only trails, will also remain open.

The Louisiana Office of State Parks reports that a hiking and equestrian trail system is being developed on the north side of the park.

The trail system is set to open by late summer.
