Calcasieu Parish Clerk of Court Lynn Jones is reminding voters that in accordance with changes to the Election Code, new poll hours will be in effect for the Saturday, April 6 election.

On non-federal elections, precincts will now open at 7 a.m. and will close at 8 p.m.

Jones recommends voting early in the day to avoid voters becoming distracted and missing the opportunity to cast their ballots.

Voters should bring a valid photo ID.

Jones also reminds candidates and supporters that Louisiana law prohibits campaigning within 600-feet of the entrance of the polling site.

Also, distributing, placing or displaying campaign memorabilia, cards, pictures or other campaign literature of any kind is not allowed within the 600-feet parameter.

Those with questions on Election Day can call the Clerk of Court office at 437-3550 or the Registrar of Voter's office at 721-4000.

Election Ballots may be found on the Calcasieu Parish Clerk of Court website at www.calclerkofcourt.com.
