VERNON PARISH, LA (KPLC) -

A Vernon Parish student has been charged with terrorizing after threats were made through social media, according to a news release from the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office.

Vernon Parish Sheriff Sam Craft said a 14-year-old student has been arrested following an investigation into complaints of the threats of violence. The threats were allegedly posted by the student on a website.

The VPSO reports that the student was not at the school, Pitkin High School, when the incident occurred and that no actions were taken by the student.

Craft said school officials were notified of the incident.

The student was charged with one count of terrorizing.
