BEAUREGARD PARISH, LA (KPLC) - Louisiana State troopers investigated a weekend traffic fatality in Beauregard Parish.

According to a news release from Troop D, on Sunday at 4:32 a.m., troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on U.S. 190 about one mile east of the Texas state line.

Troopers said the preliminary investigation revealed that a 2003 Nissan Frontier, driven by 69-year-old Robert Norman of Bon Wier, Texas, was traveling west on U.S. 190 when for unknown reasons his vehicle traveled off the left side of the highway.

Troopers said Norman then overcorrected to the right and lost control of the vehicle.

The Nissan then reportedly entered a ditch on the right side of the highway and overturned.

Norman, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.

A routine toxicology sample was obtained from Norman and will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.

The crash remains under investigation.
