Firefighters respond to 18-wheeler fire

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

Lake Charles firefighters responded to an 18-wheeler fire at the Wal-Mart on Highway 14 on Saturday.

According to fire officials, the truck caught fire just before 12:45 p.m. No one was in or near the truck. KPLC is told the truck's owner parks the truck in the parking lot.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, they said the cab of the truck was fully involved in flames.

One unit responded to the fire.

"Looking at it right now, it appears to be an electrical fire the way that it burned. The entire cab is gone. We were able to put it out quickly but the wind did cause a problem and didn't help the situation," said District Chief Kevin Hanks.

No injuries were reported.
