LAFAYETTE PARISH, LA (KPLC) -

Lafayette authorities say an individual was robbed at gunpoint Thursday and puppies, a cell phone and a backpack were stolen. The victim was not harmed.

According to a news release from the Lafayette Police Department, the incident happened at 10:45 p.m. on the 1100 block of Moss Street.

"The victim informed police he met with the suspect for the potential sale of two pit bull puppies he owned. After negotiating with the suspect for several minutes, the suspect produced a handgun and stole the victim's puppies, cell phone and backpack," the release states.

Authorities said the suspect fled the area. The suspect is described as a black male with a medium build.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
