Centenary takes care of LeTourneau on the diamond

A solid pitching effort and a five-run, third inning was enough to give the Centenary baseball team a 5-2 victory at LeTourneau on Tuesday evening. The Gents improved to 19-7 overall as LETU fell to 13-10 overall.

Holden Novak (3-0) fanned six batters in 7.0 innings en route to his third win of the season. Novak allowed just one earned run on five hits in the pitching effort. Taylor Henry secured his second save on the campaign with 2.0 innings of relief and a pair of strikeouts.

The Gents pounded out five hits in the third frame to plate the five runs needed to ice the victory. The trio of Tyler Clakley, Craig Littleman and Jemari James drove in the five runs as Clakley and James each knocked in two runs each.

Nic Parrott, who garnered the only multi-hit performance for the Maroon and White, and Matt Creamer each, logged hits in the frame.

LETU scored their runs in the second and seventh innings.

Andrew Smith (1-1) was saddled with the loss recording just one out while allowing four runs on three hits along with a walk. Smith was one of seven Jackets to toe the rubber in the contest.

Jon Lewis recorded the only mult-hit effort for the Blue and Gold.

Centenary returns to action on Thursday, Mar. 28 at Trinity. First pitch is slated for 7 p.m. The contest is the first of two with the Tigers.
