La Tech baseball falls in rubber match to Seattle

RUSTON, LA (KSLA/Louisiana Tech Sports Information) -

Seattle scored six runs in the first three innings to give the Redhawks a 7-4 victory over Louisiana Tech in the final game of the conference series Monday night at J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park in Ruston.

Seattle took a 2-0 lead early in the top half of the first after starter Richie Navari walked in two Redhawk base runners. Navari, who was recovering from illness coming into today's game, lasted two-thirds into the first inning before being replaced by left hander Ben Carlisle. Navari (1-4) was charged with the loss after facing seven batters and allowing two runs off no hits with four walks and two strikeouts.

Reliever Skyler Genger allowed no runs off two hits in four innings of relief work. Genger (3-4) came on in the third inning to replace starter Andrew Olson. Eric Yardley earned the save, his sixth of the season, after pitching 1.1 innings and allowing no runs off one hit and striking out two batters.

Taylor Terrasas recorded a career-high four hits in five at bats with two runs scored to lead the Bulldogs on the night at the plate. Ryan Gebhardt and Ryan Jones both totaled two hits in the loss, while Gebhardt added a pair of RBI as well.

Shortstop Nate Roberts led the Redhawks with a 2-for-5 performance with an RBI and two runs scored and a walk. Sean Narby added two RBI in a 1-for-3 night at the plate.
