This season didn't go the way McNeese Women's Basketball envisioned it. They finished fifth in the Southland and were bounced in the Semifinals of the conference tournament. Even still, they had a chance to make program history, as the first team to win a postseason game.

History was meant to be broken today, as the Cowgirls defeated Mercer in the first round of the Women's College Invitational Tournament, 82-70. Senior guard Caitlyn Baggett had a career high 38 points while twin Ashlyn finished with 26.

The win again makes a first for MSU, as they've never won a postseason game before. This also marks the third straight time they've participated in postseason play.

The Cowgirls will next travel to Elon to face the Lady Phoenix. Tip-off is Saturday at 1 p.m.
