Juveniles facing burglary, theft charges

CALCASIEU PARISH, LA (KPLC) -

Three juveniles are accused of breaking into a Sulphur home and stealing items.

According to a news release from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, on March 14, deputies were dispatched to the home in reference to a burglary.

Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the homeowner who reportedly said he spotted three juveniles running behind his home. Authorities said the juveniles were later identified as two 16-year-old boys and a 15-year-old boy.

During further investigation, authorities said the homeowner discovered a safe that was in his bedroom that had been opened. A prescription bottle of Hydrocodine pills and two packs of cigarettes were missing.

"A few hours later, CPSO deputies located the three juveniles and arrested them in connection with the burglary and theft without incident," the release states.

All were booked into the Juvenile Detention Center and charged with simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling, theft under $500 and possession of CDS II (Hydrocodine) with intent to distribute.

Authorities said the stolen prescription pills were recovered and returned to the victim.

Rain likely on Memorial DayRain likely on Memorial Day

Through tonight we will see mostly cloudy skies with scattered thunderstorms. At times we could see heavy rainfall. The rain will make its way out by sunrise on Memorial Day. The winds are still blowing out of the south and will continue to blow 5-10 mph overnight. This will keep our temperatures warm. Overnight, we will struggle to get out of the 70s once again. Unfortunately, the rain chances are still high for Memorial Day and through next week.
